The Hon. Warren W. Eginton Justice Institute is a FREE 5-day summer camp for incoming 10th and 11th graders.
The Justice Institute was held in Hartford at the Ribicoff Courthouse July 14-18, 2025.
The camp introduces high school students to the federal court and prepares students to compete in mock trial competitions. Students from schools across Connecticut participate in instructional panels about civil and criminal litigation, public speaking, and professionalism; visit a United States Marshals Service cell block; observe real court proceedings; meet probation officers; and visit with a police K-9 unit and the Connecticut bomb squad. Students meet and learn from several lawyers and state and federal judges and prepare for their mock trials, coached by law students participating in the court’s summer internship program. The week concludes with mock trial competitions where the students apply the skills they learn throughout the week.
